In the same spirt as our annual Nepal Leadership Trek, we are happy to announce a trek of the Salkantay trail in the Andes of Peru culminating at Machu Picchu. This is more than just a trek; it is an opportunity to be guided in daily reflections on personal and professional goals and for success and fulfillment using the Andes, Inca heritage, and Machu Picchu as a back drop. This is a magnificent setting for taking stock, renewing ourselves, and developing fresh perspectives on work, life, success, and contribution with fellow Johnson graduates. The culture, the views, trekking, volunteer service activities, remote villages, reflective exercises, and cross-cultural and spiritual exploration all work together to provide the inspiration for envisioning a more fulfilling future for ourselves.
The Salkantay trek was rated as one of the 25 best treks in the world by National Geographic Adventure and it deserves this praise. This ancient and remote pathway begins in the town of Mollepata and will take us through diverse landscapes ranging from the harsh high plains of the Andes to lush cloud forest. On the way we will pass over one of the shoulders of Salkantay at a height of 4650 meters and have fantastic views of this beautiful and majestic mountain that is revered as a god by the Andean people. We will also have the opportunity to visit the Inca fort of Llactapata or visit the hot springs of Santa Teresa.
