Richard A. Marin '75, MBA '76
Clinical Professor of Management
Richard A. Marin is a 35 year finance industry executive who was most recently Chairman and CEO of AFI(USA), a major commercial property developer. He is currently splitting his time consulting on major commercial real estate restructurings, managing private equity investments including a major commercial real estate analytics effort, and teaching asset management at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
Mr. Marin spent 23 years with Bankers Trust, was a member of its Management Committee and was Vice Chairman of BT Alex. Brown, overseeing Private Banking, Private Clients and institutional pensions. After Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank merged in 1999, he ran the $325 billion Deutsche Asset Management, Inc. as Chairman and CEO, leaving to co-found and run a New York-based, early stage venture capital fund, Beehive Ventures, LLC. He went on to be the Chairman and CEO of Bear Stearns Asset Management. He is director of several private technology companies as well as The Cayuga MBA Fund, The Big Red Venture Fund and a trustee of CARE. His undergraduate and master's degrees are from Cornell University at which he serves on The Advisory Councils of Johnson (for which he acts as Chairman), The Entrepreneurship and Personal Enterprise Program and the Financial Engineering Manhattan Center. He was inducted into Johnson's Hall of Honor.
