John E. Alexander | Founder, CBORD Group, Inc.
Mr. John E. Alexander founded CBORD Group, Inc. in 1975 and served as its Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Alexander built CBORD from a handful of part-time employees to a corporation employing more than 240 people and serving over 4,000 clients worldwide. He served as the Chairman of CBORD Group, Inc. until February 2008. Mr. Alexander currently serves as a Member of Industry Advisory Network at Blue Heron Capital, LLC and focuses on Business Services at the firm. Additionally, Mr. Alexander serves as Trustee of Cornell University, and as a member of the Johnson Advisory Council at Cornell. Mr. Alexander is probably best known in Ithaca, NY for Coyote Loco, an innovative Mexican restaurant located just outside of Cornell's campus, started in partnership with three other business-minded Mexican food lovers. He is a guest lecturer in Agricultural, Resource, and Managerial Economics (ARME) 220 - Personal Enterprise & Small Business Management. In 1994, he received the New York State Governors Award for Export. Alexander earned an undergraduate degree in Physics from Cornell University in 1974, and an MBA from Cornell University’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management in 1976.
Enrique Benet Gregg |President Isla Business Group
Graduated from ITAM, Law School, and Cornell Law School, LL.M.
His experience has always been related to extensive litigation and government relations.
Benet Gregg is founding Partner of Island Business Group in Quintana Roo and Ferráez , Benet , Segovia & Igartúa , SC, Attorneys. Firm established in Mexico City in 2010. He started this venture with an aspiration to provide excellent legal services in a globalized world. He has represented clients, and has been involved in transactions throughout Europe, Asia , the United States and Mexico. In 2012, he began operations in Miami, Florida in conjunction with Lalchandani, Simon , LLP. In 2013, Benet Gregg founded Isla Business Group in Cancun, Quintana Roo. In 2014, he partnered with CSC Lawyers Madrid, Spain. Colon de Carvajal, Solana, Cardona Abogados SLP. He currently serves as the Director of the Diplomado de Derecho Europeo de la Inversión, ITAM.
Richard C. Hojel |President & CEO Corporacion Frigus Therme & Algas Industries
Richard Hojel has been with Corporacion Frigus Therme since 1993 and in 1996 became its President and CEO. Corporacion is a group of companies based in Mexico, including the following business units: a manufacturing process equipment company that services the petroleum and petrochemical industry (Industrias Therme), a commercial refrigeration equipment company (Frigus-Bohn) and a business that rents capacity to transport and market natural gas (Igasamex). He is President and CEO of Algas Industries (a US company), design and manufacturer of liquid vaporizers and gas mixing solutions.
Mr. Hojel began his career at Andersen Consulting and has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
As a Partner of HM International, Mr. Hojel works closely with and serves on the Board of Directors of Windsor Quality Food Company, American Innovations and Enlink Geoenergy Services. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Algas-SDI, Frigus Bohn de Mexico, and Igasamex. Additionally, he participates as a Board Member of Corporación Zapata and Monte Xanic. Mr. Hojel has been a Member of the Board of Directors of The Institute of the Americas since 2003 and is currently serving as its Chairman.
Kevin McGovern ‘70| Chairman of The Water Initiative®
McGovern has founded over 15 companies, 7 of which have become world/category leaders, has been lead negotiator/principal in over 25 global joint ventures and serves as Chairman of McGovern Capital, an investment, strategy and licensing provider to global businesses.
He was a founder of SoBe Beverages, the fastest growing beverage company ever in the US (sold to Pepsi), and McGovern Capital was one of three owners of KX Industries, L.P., the largest manufacturer and worldwide source of carbon air and water purification filters, having invented and supplied PUR to P&G, first end-of-tap filter to Brita, and the first refrigerator water filter to Electrolux.
McGovern also created the program and supervised all licensing of Tristrata’s alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) patents, which technology was incorporated in approximately 40% of all global skin care products. He serves/served on many public and private boards including The Sports Authority (Exec.
McGovern is also known for his nanotechnology involvement, serving as co-chairman of Angstrom Publishing LLC, which together with Forbes Magazine publishes a global monthly Nanotechnology newsletter currently entitled The Forbes/Wolfe Emerging Tech Report. McGovern is a Trustee Emeritus and a Presidential Councilor (highest honor to alumnus) of Cornell University.
McGovern was named the Cornell "Entrepreneur of the Year" in '07, was recently given St. John's University School of Law’s "Distinguished Alumni Award" in '10 and in '11 was awarded The East West Institute's "Global Game Changer Award". He also served on the Advisory Board to the US Pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai ('10) and is Co-Chairman of the Silver Shield Foundation, providing assistance to families of policemen and firemen who die in the line of duty in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. McGovern is also a member of the National Board at the Smithsonian.
Wesley David Sine |Faculty Director, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute Professor of Management and Organizations with Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University
Professor Sine’s research focuses on the emergence of new economic sectors and entrepreneurship. His research context includes the United States, Latin America, and the Middle East. He explores issues related to institutional change, industry and technology evolution, technology entrepreneurship, and new venture structure and strategy. He has examined a diverse set of economic sectors ranging from the electric power industry to the emergence of the Internet. Teaching interests include entrepreneurship, commercializing university technology, new venture growth, the management of technology and innovation, and organizational change. He has consulted and taught executives in Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East.
