Dan Miller (BSEE '78) is Managing Director of The Roda Group, a Berkeley venture capital group he co-founded that is focused on cleantech. Dan is on the boards of Roda Group-affiliates mOasis, a company that makes a new kind of hydrogel that lets farmers grow 25% more food using 25% less water; Inventys, a company that has developed a very low cost method to capture CO2 from power plants; and Gridtential, which is developing a new kind of lead-acid battery optimized for micro grid energy storage. Dan is a former board member of biofuel manufacturer Solazyme, another Roda Group affiliate, and he was previously the president of Ask Jeeves, Inc., a former Roda Group affiliate company. Dan co-founded TCSI corporation, which became a leading provider of telecommunications software. Before that, he designed communication satellite payloads at Hughes Aircraft (now Boeing) Space & Communications. He received his BS degree from Cornell and his MS from Stanford.
