How do you manage down? How do you develop talent? And how do you manage up? In your first post-MBA job, it's more than likely that you'll be asked to lead a team or to supervise direct reports, either right when you start, or within your first year out of Johnson. This workshop has been designed to get you ready, whether you're going to be a manager for the first time, or even if you had direct reports before business school. The workshop will focus on how to build meaningful and productive relationships that will enable you to be a high-performing individual and team leader. About the Instructor
Marjie Terry is Great on the Job’s Vice President of Client Service and Business Development. Marjie is an educator, social worker and workplace diversity specialist. She has spent the past ten years managing program development in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors and has led several workshops at Johnson.
Marjie worked at Goldman Sachs as a graduate and undergraduate recruiter and diversity specialist. She focused on recruiting, training, promotion and retention efforts to increase diversity at all levels of the firm. Marjie also served as the Program Coordinator for Freedom Institute in New York City, leading health and wellness workshops, as well as coordinating programming with over 60 independent schools in NYC.
Marjie holds a Masters in Social Work from Hunter College and received her B.S. from Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy.
Graduation Credit
All Johnson students are eligible to use up to 1.5 credit hours from Leadership Skills Program and/or Managerial Skills Program credits toward the MBA degree credit-hour requirements. This LSP workshop is worth 0.1 LSP credits and includes lunch.
