Flight School: Intensive Crisis Simulation Training

The modern crisis happens in the blink of an eye. Thanks to the rise of social media and the speed of at which news (and often misinformation) spreads, organizations are at constant risk of being faced with a crisis situation that can put brands, reputations and business operations at risk.

This immersion workshop will give you experience addressing a crisis in real-time through a scenario-based simulation exercise. Led by expert facilitators from corporate advisory and public relations firm Hill+Knowlton Strategies, the workshop will require teams to work together to employ the skills needed to address a corporate crisis in a modern 21st Century media environment.

The workshop uses H+K’s proprietary Flight School technology, which includes a sophisticated online dashboard simulating social and traditional media activity, live callers role-playing as reporters, investors, employees, and other third parties (you'll get calls on your cellphone throughout the simulation), and in-person facilitators ensuring the experience is truly interactive by adjusting information flow in response to participants’ activity.

You and your team members will play different roles within a fictional company (such as CEO, CFO, COO, CMO, etc.), working together to protect the company’s brand and reputation in the face of a realistic crisis scenario. Teams will be formed by Leadership Programs staff, so please just sign up for this workshop as an individual.

The workshop will consist of a presentation from H+K crisis and digital experts on crisis response best practices, including a focus on digital tools, time for teams to prepare their roles and responsibilities, a fully immersive simulation experience, and a debrief to discuss performance, team and leadership dynamics, and best practices. This workshop is an immersive, real-time experience unlike any other...and one you won't want to miss!

Slots are limited, so please sign up early. Please note that lunch will be provided as a part of this workshop.

What Past Participants are Saying about this Workshop:

  • The deluge of information and its fast pace was a really great experience in simulating a crisis atmosphere. Learning what skills and general guidelines make for a good response to a crisis were appreciated

  • Understanding how crises can spiral out of control and how important it is for management to communicate effectively not only with the outside world, but also internally to employees and to investors and stakeholders

  • I would highly recommend this workshop to my classmates. I loved the experience and the simulation felt very real (especially with the phone calls)

  • Trying on a crisis situation and thinking about how to best manage such an event in a safe environment is quite useful. Having expert advice on the subject, as well, was interesting to hear how major corporations handle such issues. I found this experience to be very appealing and would recommend this type of simulation to other students. In general, simulations have proven to be the best type of learning for me in the past

  • It was a good experience to see how important a role social media plays today

  • I liked the face-paced environment that pushed people to reveal their real characteristics

  • The workshop provided great, practical pointers on how crises will be, and what to do. Not just theory or tips, but pointers that became really clear thanks to the simulation

Please note: You must bring a cellphone and a laptop with Google Chrome installed as a web browser to this workshop.
