Presenter:  Christina Homrighouse

This workshop is designed to provide a "safe" environment to understand, exercise and improve your presentation skills.  Think of it as "extra practice" to the semester-long oral communications course you're taking (or haven't gotten around to  yet).  The focus is not on WHAT  you will be presenting but rather HOW you present it.  (We will NOT be reviewing PowerPoint skills, or creating effective content in PowerPoint.)

Participants will be provided with two very simplistic cases.  One case will be presented using a desk, the other without.  Therefore, students must be able to type bullet points in PowerPoint and must complete their presentations prior to the workshop.  The cases are designed to be "fill-in-the-blank" presentations and will not be in depth.  Students will be creating the presentations based on personal experience, to create familiarity with material in a minimum amount of time as well as provide variety during the workshop.

Each student will present the first case (approximately 5 minutes per presentation), receive feedback and tips and then present a second case.  We will focus on body language, eye contact, natural gesturing, volume, speed and voice pitch, the proper use of notes and other personal success factors.

Presenters will be recorded so that students can review the performance independently as well.
