Microsoft Project is a valuable tool for planning, managing and controllling the status of your projects.  It gives you the ability to see both the overview and the details of a project, and it will help you to identify risks and solve problems before they occur, thus saving time and money.  This workshop will demonstrate project management workflow using key features of Microsoft Project, including:

- Entering and organizing tasks and resources

- Viewing the status of the project

- Controlling schedules by setting task durations, establishing task dependencies, working with contraints, and setting milestones.

- Incorporating costs and reviewing budgets

- Creating a Gantt chart

- Tracking the project

The workshop will closely follow tutorials in the book Microsoft Project 2010 Step by Step by Carl S. Chatfield; ISBN:  978-0-7356-2695-9.  Students who bring a copy of th book to the workshop will benefit from bringing the book, but the book is NOT required.

PREREQUISITES:  Familiarity with Excel is preferred, but not required.  This workshop is intended for individuals with Microsoft Windows XP operating system or higher, so you can install a trial version of Microsoft Project Professional 2010.  Students with Macbooks and students who don't want to install a trial version of Microsoft Project are welcome to enroll and attend without using Microsoft Project.
