Are you a BRC consultant, working on a Park project, or part of a community consulting project? Or perhaps you are just interested in how the consulting process works. Do you want to gain overview knowledge of the consulting process and the professional skills required to be successful? Do you want help in understanding how to approach and solve the projects you are performing? This MSP is designed to help you use a framework for applying the analytical capabilities you learn in your coursework. A great deal of material will be covered in executive summary style (with ample time for Q&A). Afterwards, the course deck and an extensive appendix will be an excellent reference guide for you.
This half-day MSP will focus on understanding and applying the basic consulting processes and requisite skills to school and club projects as well as in your career whether in consulting or not. The course will cover such elements of a consulting engagement as: scoping the project, contracting with the client, creating consultant/client work teams, defining deliverables, developing a work plan, conducting analysis, selecting and using strategic & operational frameworks, creating a communication and change plan, managing the project, overcoming resistance and barriers, developing recommendations, presenting the deliverables/implementation plan, and developing potential follow-on work. One of the themes that will be woven throughout the session will be the use of your creativity and critical thinking skills.
This course will draw from a broad array of real-life engagements to illustrate the concepts and stimulate discussion.
