Transgender Students 2015: Strategies for Serving and Supporting webinar

The Gannett Gender Services Committee and the LGBT Resource Center would like to invite you to the Transgender Students 2015: Strategies for Serving and Supporting webinar. The webinar will be broadcast on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm at the Annabel Taylor Hall Auditorium (ATH 230). Light refreshments will be served.

As a campus community, we understand that it is an ongoing and dynamic process working to meet the needs of transgender and gender-nonconforming students. We are inviting you to attend this webinar to help our community become more educated about trans-related issues, as well as providing direction in how we can expand our services and how we can more effectively handle complex issues.

Participants will:

• Gain an understanding of the current demographics and diverse experiences of the transgender and other gender nonconforming college student population.
• Learn how transgender and other gender nonconforming college students have faced discrimination in campus housing, facilities, health services, student activities, athletics, and admissions.
• Identify ways to address this discrimination and hear about best practices for meeting the needs of transgender and other gender nonconforming students on your campus.
• Receive valuable resources and information about new research on the experiences and needs of transgender and other gender nonconforming college students that can be used within your campus community.
