Iftar is the evening meal when Muslims break their fast at sunset. This event is open to the entire Johnson and Cornell community to come together, share a meal, and celebrate the spirit of reflection, generosity, and community that defines the holy month of Ramadan.
Event Schedule
📅 Tuesday, March 10, 2026
📍 Ramin Parlor, Sage Hall
7:10 PM — Break Fast with Dates
Dates and water will already be placed on tables so attendees observing the fast can break it immediately at sunset.
7:10–7:20 PM — Congregational Prayer
Maghrib prayer will take place in a separate room reserved for prayer. A prayer leader from the Cornell Muslim community will lead the congregation. Prayer mats will be available.
7:20 PM — Dinner Served
After prayer concludes, dinner will be served.
Food
To ensure everyone is served efficiently and to reduce food waste, food will be served rather than self-serve.
All food served at the event will be halal, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available.
Dessert, fruit, yogurt, and beverages will also be provided.
Additional Notes
Food will not be served before prayer time, out of respect for those observing the fast.
If you are fasting, please arrive on time so you can break your fast promptly at sunset.
This event aims to foster community, reflection, and cross-cultural connection during the holy month of Ramadan.
We look forward to sharing this meaningful evening with you.
