Details
Your pitch is an artfully crafted 30 second introduction typically given to recruiters at the beginning of a high-stakes conversation that tells them who you are and why you are a person of interest. It can be delivered after the handshake and hello, or after the employer asks you to “Tell me about yourself.” Either way, as you deliver your pitch the employer will be assessing you on various levels, quickly deciding whether you are a candidate they want to continue connecting with or not.
What are they looking for? A variety of things. Practically, they are looking for key bits of information about your professional experience that confirm your basic viability as a candidate for the role. On the softer side, they are assessing fit: personality, communication style, presence, competence and confidence.
This session will help you build a 30 second pitch that makes an excellent first impression, and confirms that you are a person of interest.
*This session is open to AMBAs and Cornell Tech students, and will serve as the basis for this week’s Career Work Group discussions. Lunch will be provided*
