Climate change, the greatest existential threat of our times, is now affecting every stakeholder from governments to the private sector to civil society, creating a fast-deteriorating environment and an unstable economy while simultaneously exacerbating societal inequity. In light of these increasingly interconnected challenges, multistakeholder partnerships have emerged as the critical element required to effectively address climate change by facilitating progress towards achieving net-zero targets as set forth in Agenda 2030. Additionally, to guarantee that the most vulnerable populations are not left behind, multistakeholder partnerships have become crucial in addressing the gaps that are currently hindering emission reductions, adaptation to climate change, loss and damage, and climate finance so as to achieve a net-zero equitable future. No stakeholder can single handedly achieve all these targets and therefore, multistakeholder partnerships are key to bringing forth the diverse viewpoints necessary to implement climate goals. This session will bring together stakeholders from UN entities, governments, private sector, academia and civil society to discuss the way forward in creating multistakeholder partnerships to net-zero climate goals in line with the themes of the Climate Week NYC and the UN SDG Summit.
