Please join us to learn about the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability's campus-wide initiatives at Cornell, current challenges and opportunities in the space, and how you can get involved! The Atkinson Center focuses on projects in four key areas: Reducing Climate Risk, Accelerating Energy Transitions, Increasing Food Security, and Advancing One Health. Food will be provided. Speakers:
Professor David M. Lodge
David M. Lodge is the Francis J. DiSalvo director of Cornell University’s Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability. He is an internationally recognized environmental scientist, with expertise in environmental risk assessment, freshwater and marine coastal ecology, ecosystem services, bioeconomics, and invasive species (including from ships’ ballast and biofouling). His research has improved ecological forecasting to better inform environmental risk assessment, natural resource management, and policy development.

Verne Thalheimer
Verne Thalheimer is associate director & Director of Student & Postdoctoral Programs at the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability. Prior to joining the Cornell Atkinson team in September 2023, Verne spent 12 years in operations and program director roles with executive MBA programs at Cornell’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. He also spent five years as an administrative director in Cornell’s College of Engineering. In addition to his work at Cornell, Verne brings 10 years of environmental policy experience having supported a number of clean transportation programs at the federal, state, and local levels.
