Cornell Commencement is an amazing weekend in Ithaca of celebrations large and small. It is the culmination of hard work and perseverance by graduates, and love and support of family and friends. This website provides information on Johnson School events, as well as links to Cornell University events and planning resources.

ABOUT THE ITHACA CEREMONIES

  • FRIDAY EVENING: Cornell University PhD Recognition Ceremony in Barton Hall at 5:30 p.m.  This is the university event where doctoral candidates are individually recognized. TICKETS: Tickets are not required, but all graduates must RSVP at this link by May 22 in order to have their name announced.
  • SATURDAY MORNING: Cornell University Commencement Ceremony #1 in Schoellkopf Stadium at 10:00 a.m. This is the event where degrees are officially conferred on each program collectively; individual names are not announced. All Johnson School graduates are invited to participate in this event. A livestream link will be provided. TICKETS: Tickets are not required, but it is requested that you complete this online form by May 24.
  • SATURDAY AFTERNOON & EVENING: The Johnson School PhD and MBA Recognition Ceremonies in Bartels Hall, Newman Arena are the events where each graduate is individually recognized by name and walks across the stage.
    • The 1:30 p.m. ceremony is for Johnson School PhD, Ithaca MBA, and Johnson Cornell Tech MBA Graduates. A livestream link will be provided. This event will be followed by a reception at Sage Hall.
    • The 5:00 p.m. ceremony is for Johnson School EMBA Americas, EMBA Metro NY, EMBA/MS in Healthcare Leadership, and Cornell-Tsinghua MBA Graduates. A livestream link will be provided. This event will be followed by a reception at Sage Hall.
    • TICKETS: Tickets are not required for the Johnson School Bartels Hall recognition events nor the receptions in Sage Hall.
  • SUNDAY MORNING: The Johnson School MPS in Management & MS in Business Analytics Recognition Ceremony in the Statler Auditorium at 10:00 a.m. is the event where each graduate is individually recognized by name and walks across the stage. A livestream link will be provided. This event will be followed by a reception at Sage Hall. TICKETS: Ticket details will be shared with graduates in the spring.

ATTIRE: Throughout the weekend, graduates and guests should dress comfortably (business casual is common). Be prepared for crowds and lots of walking; and for assorted weather (hot, wet, cold, etc.). Bartels Hall is not air conditioned, and there is little shade/coverage in Schoellkopf Stadium.
