2012 Diversity Symposium: “Diversify Your Portfolio”
The Vision
Building on the success of last year’s event, this fall, the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University will host our third annual Diversity Symposium. The Diversity Symposium is a student-led collaboration between the Black Graduate Business Association (BGBA), the Latino Business Students Association (LBSA), the Women's Management Council (WMC), Out for Business (O4B) and the undergraduate Minority Business Students Association (MBSA). The mission is to create a holistic platform for participants to engage and educate one another on the latest issues and exchange ideas related to diversity and business.
The Experience
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Diversify Your Portfolio.” It will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012, in conjunction with Johnson’s diversity recruitment weekend, Johnson Means Business. The symposium will begin with an exclusive, pre-conference networking reception on Friday, October 26. Designed to attract students and professionals alike, the event will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and more.

Session 1, Panel Choice 2: Investing for Personal Wealth and Global Growth
Beyond financial returns, investing can generate positive social and environmental impact. This panel will discuss how investors measure success, balancing financial returns with global impact. It will highlight the benefits and challenges of investing for global growth, with discussion on existing opportunities and trends in the market today. The panel will consider implications for individual investors, social enterprises, and socially and environmentally minded corporations.
