One of the most common challenges for international MBAs is not technical capability, but navigating the “soft skills” side of recruiting—building chemistry, communicating with clarity, and standing out in high-stakes conversations. Drawing from his experience at Johnson and in consulting, Julian will share perspectives on how to bridge this gap.
Rather than walking through a fixed program, this session will be driven by what’s top of mind for you. Using Julian’s past work—including his “Strengthening Communication with Improv” series—as a backdrop, we’ll open up a candid, discussion-based conversation around the real challenges students are facing today in recruiting, particularly in consulting.
Topics may include:
Building authentic connections in coffee chats and networking settings
Structuring your story to “sell yourself” effectively
Navigating ambiguity and pressure in interviews
Breaking into consulting as an international student
We are also excited to have Lourdes Casanova join the mixer to support discussions around additional opportunities and resources for international students, including international case competitions, global internships, and programs such as EMI fellowships.
Come prepared with questions, experiences, and challenges—this is a space to engage openly, learn from each other, and leave with practical insights you can apply immediately.
