Deeply intertwined with their local ecosystems and led by multiple generations of families, Italian companies represent an interesting playground to investigate the social role of companies and the opportunities of long-term strategies.

Meaningful Companies is a three-week innovation program that reveals the stories of companies that decided to be the best in the world while being the best for the world by designing their overall organizational structures and corporate strategies around a higher purpose than mere profit.

Led by Debra Dunn, Co-Founder of the FEED Collaborative at Stanford University and a previously distinguished senior executive for large-scale change and positive social impact at Hewlett Packard, this program will bridge theory and practice for a selected group of multidisciplinary, international students through access to companies, real projects and conversations with Italian managers and entrepreneurs.

Participants will also be guided by Daniel Van Der Vliet, the John and Dyan Smith Executive Director of the Smith Family Business Initiative at Cornell University, mentored by Patagonia Inc. senior executives Vincent Stanley and Nora Gallagher, and trained by John Bruce from Parsons School of Design, who will lead strategic design activities to transform the learnings into actions through real project work curated by Italia Innovation.
