Register TODAY for ROMBA!

The Reaching Out LGBTQ+ MBA & Business Graduate Conference (ROMBA) is a conference for current, alumni and prospective lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) graduate students and their active allies. The 2019 ROMBA Conference will be held October 10-12, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia.

As part of the ROMBA alliance, Johnson's Out For Business (O4B) members have the opportunity to attend this conference to network, learn, and improve their skills so they will emerge stronger and more confident in the business world.

To determine if this conference is right for you, please consider the following:

We want to keep the conference an inclusive environment for both LGBTQ+ students and active allies alike, but many participating companies are exclusively seeking LGBTQ+ talent, which is difficult to identify through other recruiting channels. As a result, this may not be the best environment for someone outside of the LGBTQ+ community to try to connect with employers.

For those outside the LGBTQ+ community, we understand that everyone will have a slightly different interpretation of what being an active ally entails. We trust your judgement. While recruiting is certainly an important aspect of the conference, an equally large part of the conference is focused on LGBTQ+ networking and community brainstorm – and we hope that all attendees would want to be part of that conversation. For active allies considering attending this conference, we ask that you critically evaluate the following points when determining if you’ll be able to make the most out of this experience:

  • What is your connection to the LGBTQ+ community?
  • What are you hoping to get out of the ROMBA Conference besides access to a 3-hour career fair?

If you determine that ROMBA is the right opportunity for you, click the buttons below to obtain the Johnson-specific code necessary for registration (STEP 1) and use that code to register directly with ROMBA (STEP 2).

Important Notes:

  • You must use the Johnson-specific code obtained in STEP 1 to register in STEP 2. Please do not share this code.
  • Make sure to register by September 2, 2019 to take advantage of early-bird prices.
  • First-time diversity recruiting conference attendees must attend a prep session held by the Career Management Center (CMC) on September 3, 2019.
    • Out For Business will host a separate, optional ROMBA-specific prep session; details to come.
  • Attendees must coordinate their own travel and accomodations for the conference. Please note that ROMBA (October 10-12) overlaps with Atlanta Pride (October 11-13); accordingly, attendees are encouraged to plan their accomodations well in advance.
  • Please note that ROMBA conflicts with first-year students’ core final exams for first-half fall core classes. The administration and fall faculty are supportive of your attendance, however, and have worked out a make-up schedule for first-year students who are confirmed ROMBA attendees. We recommend that first-year students reach out to Student Services to review the make-up plan before booking their travel, as you will need to return to Ithaca after the conference to take these exams before you go on fall break. To learn more, or if you have questions, please reach out to Ingrid Jensen.
  • Make sure to print a copy of your registration confirmation, including the payment amount.

We look forward to seeing you at ROMBA 2019! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ryan Moran, Out For Business President (rmm352@cornell.edu) or the Johnson Office of Diversity and Inclusion (odi@johnson.cornell.edu).
