This workshop intersperses timesaving tips, tricks, and shortcuts with several of Excel's most useful features and functions. The session is organized into three areas: Worksheet Features, Functions, and Analysis Tools:
Worksheet Features:
- name cells and ranges to simplify calculations, to simplify navigation, and to provide absolute cell referencing
- use conditional formatting to highlight cells that meet a condition
- use auditing tools to study worksheet formulas
Functions:
- apply financial functions
- use the VLOOKUP function to locate values in a table
Analysis Tools:
- use Scenario Manager to store sets of input values for several models
- use Solver to calculate the optimal result of a model
- use Data Table to create a sensitivity table
- aggregate data into a Pivot Table and Pivot Chart
- collapse multiple worksheets into a consolidation Pivot Table
- perform what-if analysis using a chart
Prerequisites:
Competence building Excel worksheets, including how to build formulas, use functions, move and copy cells, format cells, and use absolute cell references.
