Frequently Asked Questions

Please read the frequently asked questions and responses to assist you in producing a successful and meaningful Johnson Student Trek and travel experience for your student organization.

Q: Where do I begin and how do I organize corporate visits?
A: 2 months in advance, contact a staff member from the Career Management Center who matches your trek’s industry of interest. https://www.johnson.cornell.edu/Career-Management/Contact-Us

Corporate visits are the highlight of Johnson Student Treks. The Career Management Center at Johnson and its experienced team and staff are here to help you navigate corporate connections and organize corporate visits that fit the theme and focus of your student trek.

Q: How do I notify the appropriate Johnson offices of our travel details?
A: As you begin planning your Johnson Student Travel, complete a travel application two months prior to departure.

Once completed, the application is automatically sent to Johnson’s Career Management Center, Office of Alumni Affairs, Office of Student Activities, and Corporate Relations Department. It is important to have your travel outlined, including a rough draft of your proposed itinerary. This will allow each office to have updated records regarding your plans and provide better assistance to your student organization if requested.

Q: What if I want to plan a student-alumni networking event during our trek?
A: Contact the Office of Alumni Affairs at Johnson, Kasi Dean at kad57@cornell.edu.

The Office of Alumni Affairs at Johnson offers up to $300 sponsorship for student-alumni networking events during treks. If contacted well in advance of departure, the Office of Alumni Affairs can provide additional assistance in reaching out to alumni, provide light appetizers towards a student-alumni event (not to exceed $300), create marketing (students will need to provide an event description), handle online registration, and contact Johnson Club Leaders to notify them of your event and student trek.

Please Note: The Office of Alumni Affairs does NOT handle contracts or find venue space.

Q: How do I find out whether it is possible to obtain corporate sponsorship for our trek?
A: Please refer to the following link for guidance in making “asks” of corporate partners: https://johnson.campusgroups.com/admin/club-corporate-outreach/
